Ultimately, there will be no changes in the way you ship with Stallion, however, there are unique requirements all shippers must meet when using the UPS Ground service. Here’s what you need to know:
Weight
For UPS Ground packages, the maximum actual weight is 150 pounds. Packages weighing more than this will not be accepted for transportation. Billable weight is determined based on the greater of the dimensional weight or the actual weight.
Size
The maximum size limit for a UPS Ground package is 108 inches in length or 165 inches in combined length and girth [(2 x width) + (2 x height)]. Packages that exceed these dimensions may be subject to additional handling charges or refused for transport.
Additional Handling
A surcharge applies for packages with special handling requirements. The factors include:
- Actual weight greater than 50 pounds.
- Length plus girth exceeding 105 inches.
- Length exceeding 48 inches or width exceeding 30 inches.
- Packages not encased in a standard corrugated box or with
- Irregular packaging, such as metal, wood, or plastic.
- Cylindrical items like barrels or drums.
- Charges vary by zone, with the fees ranging from $19.50 to $41.50
- USD depending on the reason for special handling.
Large Package Surcharge
A package is considered “Large” when its length plus girth exceeds 130 inches or its length exceeds 96 inches. Large packages are subject to a minimum billable weight of 90 pounds. The surcharge for domestic shipments ranges from $160.00 to $235.00 USD, depending on the destination and service type.
Estimated Time of Delivery
Delivery for UPS Ground typically occurs within one to five business days depending on the destination within all 50 states and Puerto Rico. Customers can refer to the UPS Ground Time-in-Transit maps on ups.com/maps for a more precise estimate based on their location.
