As an Amazon US marketplace seller based in Canada, you’ve probably been hassled by the shipping process one time or another. We get it; getting your items across Canada through customs and safely into an Amazon warehouse in the US can be a pain. Fortunately, outside of Canada post / poste Canada express shipping (which can eat up all of your profits if you’re not careful), there are other, much cheaper shipping options available.
Express Shipping: Canada Post Process
In the world of Canadian express shipping, Canada Post is arguably the first name that comes to mind. As Canada’s primary post carrier, shipping via Canada Post is an efficient way to get your packages across the border and into your chosen Amazon warehouse.
Canada Post offers five different services to get your package to the US. Three are standard delivery (non-time-sensitive) options, while two are traditional express shipping options.
Between the two services that fall under express shipping, Canada Post gives you the option to pick the best service for your needs: priority shipping which is considered next-day shipping for US-bound packages, and Xpresspost-USA. Xpresspost is Canada Post’s second-fastest express shipping service for parcels and documents heading to the USA and takes around 2-3 days for fulfillment.
To ship via these services, packages and documents must fit within these specifications:
L/W/H: 2mlength + (height x 2 ) + (width x 2) : 3m
L/W/H < 1.52mlength + (height x 2 ) + (width x 2) : 2.74m
Information is taken from the Canada Post website.
Coverage for up to $100 in value for loss or damages
Delivery to P.O. boxes
Increased coverage and pickup services for packages and documents are available for an extra fee. The main differences between the two services lie in their rates and shipping times, with Xpresspost shipping being the more economical yet slower option.
With Canada Post, express shipping time varies depending on pickup or dropoff and delivery location and the service you choose. It usually falls between 3-7 business days from all major cities in Canada to the major cities within the United States.
Shipping times are also greatly affected by the seasons. Shipping during the holidays means Canada Post can’t guarantee fast delivery, even if you pay for express shipping.
As per Canada Post, express shipping price varies wildly. Rates are dependent on your package size and weight, the inbound and outbound locations, and the service you choose. For the most updated Xpresspost and expedited shipping rates, please check Canada Post’s rate calculator on their website.
However, it is widely known that Canada Post charges higher rates than most. As with any large shipping company, set shipping routes often increase prices—something a smaller shipping company doesn’t have to deal with.

Discovering the world of Amazon FBA can be a rewarding experience for a Canadian-based seller. With Amazon FBA, you have the opportunity to grow your business drastically and target markets otherwise unavailable to you. On the downside, dealing with shipping and customs can be a nightmare for you and your small business.
At Stallion Express, we understand that shipping costs can eat up all of your profits fairly quickly, and that’s why we want to give you a shipping option that won’t break the bank. Our goal is to make shipping as affordable as possible for Canadian sellers so that shipping doesn’t become a barrier in joining Amazon FBA or any other eCommerce platform.
Smaller shipping companies like ours can provide cheaper shipping rates than larger companies like Canada Post or FedEx. That’s because we partner with multiple large companies to get the best price per route, so you aren’t dependent on the rates of just one courier.
From Canada to the US, Stallion Express has partnered with USPS and UPS to give you the best shipping rates possible. To make it simpler for our customers, we’ve done away with standard and expedited services and instead offer a 2-4 business day delivery time for any of our packages heading to the USA.
Stallion Express also has a dedicated Amazon FBA service that allows Canadian sellers to take advantage of the deep discounts Amazon offers to their US-based FBA sellers, all for a much lower cost than shipping directly to an FBA warehouse.
How We Work With Amazon FBA
Our Amazon FBA service ships with an Amazon Partner label through UPS, giving you a cost-effective solution for bulk shipping your products to an Amazon FBA warehouse. By registering on our website, sellers can make use of our US address to create a shipping plan on Amazon Seller Central.
Once you’ve created your account, follow these step-by-step instructions to print your shipping labels and pay the fee. Drop off your package at any of our locations, and we’ll take it from there!
