Canada Post offers five different services to get your package to the US. Three are standard delivery (non-time-sensitive) options, while two are traditional express shipping options.
Between the two services that fall under express shipping, Canada Post gives you the option to pick the best service for your needs: priority shipping which is considered next-day shipping for US-bound packages, and Xpresspost-USA. Xpresspost is Canada Post’s second-fastest express shipping service for parcels and documents heading to the USA and takes around 2-3 days for fulfillment.

Increased coverage and pickup services for packages and documents are available for an extra fee. The main differences between the two services lie in their rates and shipping times, with Xpresspost shipping being the more economical yet slower option.
With Canada Post, express shipping time varies depending on pickup or dropoff and delivery location and the service you choose. It usually falls between 3-7 business days from all major cities in Canada to the major cities within the United States.
Shipping times are also greatly affected by the seasons. Shipping during the holidays means Canada Post can’t guarantee fast delivery, even if you pay for express shipping.
As per Canada Post, express shipping price varies wildly. Rates are dependent on your package size and weight, the inbound and outbound locations, and the service you choose. For the most updated Xpresspost and expedited shipping rates, please check Canada Post’s rate calculator on their website.
However, it is widely known that Canada Post charges higher rates than most. As with any large shipping company, set shipping routes often increase prices—something a smaller shipping company doesn’t have to deal with.
