Benjamin Franklin, an American author and diplomat, mentioned that, “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest” will serve you well in your search for the best shipping services in Canada and overseas

Before you decide which shipping option to use for your growing business, make sure that you have explored all options and researched all the details. You will only come up with a wise decision if you know all your options, the shipping method’s advantages and disadvantages, and how the processes work.

To make this complicated and time-consuming process easier, we have prepared five of the shipping options you can look into. Some methods are for your domestic orders, while others are once you’ve expanded abroad.

Option #1: Cross Border Shippers

How it works

Big names and well-established shipping companies dominate the shipping industry, but the rates are not always friendly for small to medium eCommerce store owners like you. If you explore the cheapest international shipping options, turning your attention to smaller yet equally reliable cross-border shippers is an intelligent move.

Stallion Express is the leading shipping company in Canada that you should consider. In addition to cheaper and faster US shipping, you also get a reliable shipping partner for other services - like domestic and international shipping

They can provide easy and stress-free border shipping services as they are partnered with the top courier companies in the country.

To use this, create a free account, shop rates from different services (whether it's U.S., domestic within Canada or international) then import your orders with a click of a button to buy your shipping labels. Drop your packages in ready-to-ship condition to the cross-border shipping company and we’ll take care of the rest of your shipment’s journey.

More Reasons Why to Use a Company Like Stallion

  • Stallion Express offers the most competitive rates when it comes to cross-border shipping.
  • You have the chance to negotiate with the company to set long-term goals for discounted rates on shipments.
  • You can shift the savings from shipping to other areas in your business.

Option #2: Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA)

How it works

Aside from shipping, you might also be looking for warehouses for your products, especially when there are tons of them. FBA can give you the storage space you need and can deliver your products as well. Throughout the process, you and your customers will be assisted by a 24/7 customer service team included in the service. Consider Amazon FBA as part of your business, helping with customer service and logistics.

To enjoy this program, you need to be selling on Amazon, and you need to log in on Seller Central to choose which products will be fulfilled by Amazon. Pack these products according to FBA packing guidelines to avoid additional charges and keep the process smooth.

Once you get orders, Amazon will handle everything for you.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Using This Option

Advantages

Disadvantages

  • You and your customers get 24/7 customer service.
  • Your products are safely stored in Amazon warehouses.
  • The “Fulfilled by Amazon” tagging of your product creates a positive appeal to customers.
  • Amazon also handles your returns.
  • It is costly for products that do not sell well because you will be charged with storage fees and long-term storage fees without getting any sales.
  • You cannot choose which warehouse your products will be in as Amazon automatically chooses for you.

Option #3: Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF)

How it works

Not selling on Amazon but find the FBA services appealing? You can still enjoy the services through MCF, which allows the fulfillment of products from sellers on other marketplaces like Shopify, eBay, or Etsy.

You need to register to MCF, then, just like FBA, pack your products according to the MCF packing guidelines and send them to an Amazon warehouse. When you get orders, Amazon will deliver them for you.

You have to note that the packages will have Amazon branding as it is still developing non-branded packaging for MCF sellers.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Using This Option

Advantages

Disadvantages

  • You can store your products in a trusted warehousing company.
  • Amazon Logistics themselves will deliver orders.
  • You can look into selling on Amazon, the largest eCommerce platform in the world, and move to FBA.
  • Amazon also handles product returns.
  • Delivery time is the same as FBA.
  • Some eCommerce platforms do not allow Amazon Logistics as a form of delivery, so you’ll have to pay for an extra 5% surcharge.
  • Product restrictions are strict, so be sure to check the guidelines to see if the product you are selling can be fulfilled via MCF.

Option #4: FBA Export Program

How it works

Expand your business and expose your listings and products to over a hundred countries Amazon is available to through the FBA Export Program. Using this service is easy, as it is already available on your Seller Central account. All you need to do is enable your listing for FBA Export, and customers from all over the world can buy it!

With this program, you can skip the hassle of going through all customs and border basics, as Amazon will cover this step for you.

Another best thing about the FBA Export program is you can test international shipping, the demographics of the customers who are willing to buy your products. Even if they do not buy, you can also analyze the click-through rate to your listing from potential buyers from another country. You may not always get sales, but you get valuable insights in case you will ship abroad through another shipping means.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Using This Option

Advantages

Disadvantages

  • You can enjoy the program at zero cost. You will not handle the shipping costs.
  • The dream of making your products known to the world is just a matter of clicking the FBA Export enable button.
  • Amazon will fulfill all orders.
  • Amazon will also handle customs and border compliance
  • Free shipping is a revered option for customers, and passing on the shipping costs, tax, and duty charges to customers may not be appealing.
  • If the expectations of passing all the shipping costs to customers are not set correctly, you may suffer negative reviews and feedback.
