On January 1, 2021, the transition period of the United Kingdom leaving the European Union ends.
This means all businesses that sell goods to the U.K. will be required to register through Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC), collect value-added tax (VAT) from customers, and remit VAT to HMRC on a quarterly basis.
What does this mean for our International Shipping services?
All shipments, regardless of value, will be subject to a VAT of 20%.
APC Priority Worldwide (DDP)
No changes have been made for this service by the carrier. That means APC will pay import fees on your behalf to streamline the service.
APC Priority Worldwide (DDU) & PostNL International
Since HMRC will no longer collect duty/tax upon delivery, it is the responsibility of the seller to collect at the point of sale. We recommend that you register with HMRC and review some of the resources shared below.
Regardless of the service you choose, we recommend that you register your business and inform your customers of these changes.
