Are you an Amazon seller? Do you plan to sell on the global market? If you do, then that’s great! Because Amazon operates in over 16 online stores worldwide, it has over 150 million paid Prime members and over 300 million active customers! With Amazon International shipping, you can introduce your products to millions of customers worldwide. You are thereby growing your business despite not having any physical store in a specific country.

Amazon sellers have stated that they were able to double their sales by selling internationally. It empowered them even more when Amazon launched Amazon Global & FBA, making it easier on the seller’s part to reach international customers and ship their products. By only selling in your country of origin, you are limiting yourself from the endless possibilities of gaining new customers and earning more sales.

Amazon has already helped sellers in moving their business internationally, to ease the seller’s worries. Since there are many questions regarding Amazon International Shipping, we have answered 5 of them and listed ways to start.

Question #1: How to Ship Internationally?

Amazon Global Selling (AGS) is a program that allows sellers to list and sell their products in Amazon’s global marketplace. Since Amazon sells in 16 online marketplaces globally, you can scale your business by gaining immediate access to customers once you have registered in one of these Amazon marketplaces. You can expand your reach overseas without leaving your place of business.

The list of Amazon marketplaces are the following:

Europe

Amazon.co.uk
Amazon.de
Amazon.fr
Amazon.it
Amazon.es
Amazon.nl

Asia-Pacific

Amazon.co.jp
Amazon.in
Amazon.com.au
Amazon.sg

Middle East

Amazon.ae
Amazon.com.tr

Americas

Amazon.com
Amazon.ca
Amazon.com.mx
Amazon.com.br

Through these marketplaces, sellers can expand their business while customers can conveniently purchase products and safely receive them. Essentially, the program allows customers to shop for a wide array of products without leaving their homes. However, not all products are available in their country since there are certain restrictions. Nevertheless, it gives them access to a wide range of products.

Using AGS is pretty straightforward. You will first register under the Amazon global marketplace, list your items, sell on the platform, ship your products, and receive your payment.

Question #2: How to Sell with Amazon International Shipping?

Below are the steps to sell globally on Amazon.

Create an Amazon Seller Account

If you want to sell in the global marketplace, you’ll need to set up your Amazon selling account. It will be specifically for the country where you plan to sell your products. For example, if you are already selling in Hong Kong, and you want to sell in the United States, then you need to create a new Amazon seller account specifically for the United States.

However, if you’re already selling in the European marketplace and just want to sell to another European country, you don’t need to create another seller account, this is because you are governed under the European Unified Account.

Amazon has a unified marketplace where you can offer products to different marketplaces from a single seller account. If you are already selling in the UK, you don’t need to create another seller account if you wish to sell in Denmark. You can sell in different European marketplaces. However, this doesn’t mean that if you posted your product in one marketplace, it is already available in other European marketplaces. You still have to post a product listing for the marketplace in which you wish to sell.

If you plan on selling in European marketplaces, you’ll need to provide a valid credit card, tax number, and phone number. Besides these, you need to comply with local and European tax requirements and pay country-specific fees.

If you plan to sell in India, bear in mind that only locally owned businesses are allowed. As for selling in Japan, online registration can be in the English or Japanese language. There is also a North America Unified Account for you to sell in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

If you register your seller account in one of these marketplaces: Amazon.com, Amazon.ca, or Amazon.mx, you can easily shift from one marketplace to another in the Seller Central. You’ll also only pay subscription fees for the marketplace you first registered in. Lastly, you need to create offers in each marketplace if you want to sell in each of these three marketplaces.

Open a Bank Account

You can open a bank account in the country you want to sell for easy access and control of your financial accounts. If not, you can use Amazon Currency Converter for Sellers (ACCS), where you can receive and pay money using your local currency. Take note that only currencies supported by ACCS apply here.

Create your Listing

After creating a seller account and setting up your bank details, you’re ready to create a product listing. When creating your product listing, it should be written in the language of the country where you wish to sell. Also, you need to know the different product listing requirements for each marketplace since it varies within each country.

Question #3: How much is Amazon Shipping?

Shipping from one country to another comes with a fee, that’s why a delivery fee is charged on top of the item's purchase cost during checkout. The shipping fee shall be based on the weight and volume of the item. However, it can change per country based on the product category.

If you are selling in Canada, below is the standard shipping fee.

Question #4: How Does Amazon Fulfill Your Orders?

You can use Amazon FBA to ship your products internationally. When you use FBA, you’ll need to import your products to another country where the warehouse is located. If you plan to use Amazon FBA, you’ll also need to sign up under their FBA Export.

Their FBA Export Program is an easy and hassle-free program where Amazon identifies which products in your inventory are eligible for international shipping. They will be the ones who’ll pack and ship the products straight to your customers.

If your customer has concerns or inquiries, they can go straight to Amazon Customer Service. Often, they ask about returning their product and having their payment. Amazon offers 24-hour customer service support in the local language of your customer. With this, you can provide them with world-class customer service that helps build your relationship with them.

For you to sign up, follow the steps below:

  • Click Fulfillment by Amazon on your Seller Central Page
  • Find Export Settings and edit it.
  • Select FBA export and finalize the account.
  • Click submit.

So, does Amazon FBA pay for shipping? No. The shipping fee is part of your Fulfillment fee that you pay monthly.

Question 5: Are you eligible for the Amazon Free International Shipping?

Customers love free shipping! They’ll love it even more if you offer free international shipping!

You can offer them free shipping when the order is part of the eligible items, meets the free shipping minimum, and will be shipped to an eligible international delivery address.
